Services: Second Opinion
Goal
Discussion and identification of vulnerabilities and potential security risks in a project in order to avoid and minimize these early enough.
Initial Situation
The customer provides us with all information about a project or one aspect of such a project (e.g. concept, manuals, meeting minutes, etc.).
Approach
- Preparation: Definition of the goals as well as collection and discussion of the existing project.
- Review: Review and analysis in order to determine errors and unattractive features.
- Discussion: Documentation and discussion of the identified errors and of the suggested measures.
Result
The customer is provided with a document that discusses the incorrect or unattractive features of the project. These points are analyzed and their risks assessed, and appropriate countermeasures are indicated.
Pros and Cons
As specialists, this enables us to provide an alternative point of view about problems and issues at an early stage before they can take root within a company. This minimizes the target area immediately as well as in the long term and lays the foundation for a secure environment.
Reference Example
Second Opinion Virtualization: A large international financial institution wanted to be among the first to virtualize a large portion of its server systems through VMware. The risks of this new approach had not been extensively discussed at the time; for this reason we performed a novel concept study. This way, we were able to point out the transferred, newly introduced, and eliminated risks. The study provided a justification for the virtualization to the management.
