Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in wp-includes/functions.php in WordPress before 2.1.2-alpha allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via (1) the Referer HTTP header or (2) the URI, a different vulnerability than CVE-2007-1049.
The weakness was disclosed 02/27/2007 (Website). The advisory is available at trac.wordpress.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-1230 since 03/02/2007. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:wp-includes/functions.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 24889 (GLSA-200703-23 : WordPress: Multiple vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Gentoo Local Security Checks.
Upgrading to version 2.1.2-alpha eliminates this vulnerability.
