Decision
Security

Can you trace how your AI influences decisions?

An AI system can be secure. Data can have integrity. Governance can be defined. And yet the resulting decision can still be wrong, manipulated, or impossible to justify responsibly.

Decision Security therefore examines AI-supported decision-making and protects the integrity of the complete Decision Flow – from information and data through models and Human Oversight to the decision and its impact. The shared object of protection is the decision.

01

Why

AI changes the distance between information and impact. Systems interpret data, generate recommendations, prepare decisions, and through agents can even trigger actions directly.

Securing individual components in isolation is therefore no longer enough. Even without a cyberattack, the integrity of a decision can be compromised – by unsuitable data, incorrect interpretation, missing context, ineffective Human Oversight, or unclear responsibility.

Information has value. Decisions create impact.
02

What

Five perspectives on the complete Decision Flow.

01

Decision Flow

How is a decision formed, which systems and people contribute, and what dependencies exist?

02

Data Integrity

What information enters the process, where does it come from, and how trustworthy, complete, and current is it?

03

AI Models

Which models influence the decision, and what capabilities, limitations, and uncertainties do they have?

04

Human Oversight

Who is responsible, understands the relevant boundaries, and can actually intervene, override, or stop the process?

05

Decision Governance

How are decisions made traceable, reviewable, monitored, and aligned with the organisation's risk appetite?

03

How

We identify relevant decision-making processes, reconstruct their complete Decision Flow, and assess both technical and organisational influences. What matters is not only the individual elements, but how they interact.

1

Identify

Identify business-critical AI-supported decision-making processes

2

Trace

Trace information, models, people, decisions, actions, and impact

3

Assess

Assess data, models, Human Oversight, Governance, and technical risks

4

Challenge

Challenge manipulation, unintended behaviour, misinterpretation, and misuse

5

Improve

Prioritise critical dependencies and derive concrete improvements

04

Knowledge

After the assessment, you understand not only the AI system, but also the decision-making process it influences:

Which AI-supported decisions are particularly critical and how their Decision Flow actually works

Which data, models, people, and organisational processes influence a decision

Where manipulation, misinterpretation, unsuitable context, or missing controls can compromise decisions

Whether Human Oversight is effective in practice and responsibility can actually be exercised

Which technical and organisational measures strengthen traceability and trustworthiness

scip AG

Cybersecurity protects information. Decision Security protects decisions.

Decision Security connects perspectives that organisations often consider separately: Cybersecurity, Governance, Human Factors, Risk Management, Data, AI Engineering, and Assurance. This combination reflects how scip works.

We combine long-standing security experience with our own research into Trustworthy AI and AI-supported decision-making. This means we look beyond whether a system works technically or is compliant, and examine whether organisations can understand how decisions are formed, what influences them, and when they can be trusted.

We have learned to protect information.
Now we must learn to protect decisions.

When AI prepares or influences decisions, the decision itself becomes an object of security and trust. Let us make the complete Decision Flow visible.
