Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 6.x before 6.5.8 and 7.x before 7.0.1 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via an archive with a file that matches a virus signature and has a crafted filename that is not properly handled by the print function in SavMain.exe.

The bug was discovered 09/04/2007. The weakness was released 09/07/2007 by Michael Jordon with Context Information Security Ltd (Website). The advisory is shared for download at sophos.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-4512 since 08/23/2007. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
