A vulnerability was found in Snort up to 2.4.1. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function PrintTcpOptions
of the component Verbose Mode. The manipulation as part of a TCP SACK Packet leads to a denial of service vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-404. The product does not release or incorrectly releases a resource before it is made available for re-use. Impacted is availability.
The weakness was published 09/13/2005 by Jennifer Steffens with Snort Team (Website). The advisory is shared at snort.org. The attack may be initiated remotely. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1499 for this issue.
